What matters most one’s skill or degree/course?

Try asking yourself, what matters a professional skill or a degree/ a course.
This topic is too old and their had been n numbers of debate over it. Which will land you
your desired job?

Don’t get into the conclusion, at the end of this article we’ll find out which
is important. So let’s begin.

“A skill is the ability to carry out a task with determined results often within a given

amount of time, energy, or both.” - Wikipedia

Skills are gained with efforts, hard work, persistence, and not quitting.

But our Educational System is somewhat different. Our Indian Educational
The system believes that a degree (or a course) will land you your dream job.

The main question is-Is a college degree worth it? We spend our whole time and go
through excessive stress only to get nothing but a mere piece of paper? Does it really
guarantee a job?

The degree is important as a degree is an award given based on completion of specific
requirements. Students essentially enter into a contract with the University and agree
to complete these requirements in exchange for a degree.

Now you’ll ask me why am I focusing on Skills only, because-

Skills help to achieve a goal

Skills help an individual to grow and climb the career ladder

Skills show experiences

Skills show self-confidence and knowledge

The Degree which is taught to us is old. Our current system doesn’t give what is needed

to over 20 crores educated and unemployed youth in India.

The lack of awareness of the link between skill-based education and the job market is

notable. But parents still choose courses based on their commercial potential, not on

their children’s aptitude for them.

Without skills, you won’t succeed at your dream job. The degree is just a prerequisite for a
job, nothing else. Now many MNC’s don’t even require a degree for a job post. What
matters is do you have skills relevant to that degree which you can showcase and earn
that job? It is not that degree is useless.

Having a degree only is not enough to find a good job

Degree will give you a job but just a job which you are not happy with, what about that
dream job? For that we need to have skills which will earn us that job.

And it’ll be lot better if you link your degree and skill.

So Skill is must for a dream job.
